Background — Earlier we reported that WhereSheStops received a 30 day time out from Rick. We missed that he upgraded it to a full ban as a result of her attempt to appeal. Apparently he told his fellow moderators that he was making a special rule for her. The Terms of Service say:
Banned User Procedure:
A user who has been banned may create a temporary account to apologize, to appeal the decision or to clarify why he committed the act for consideration by the moderators, and specifically the Forum Moderator who called the ban. Generally speaking, once a Forum Moderator has taken action, He/She has “the ball” and will be handling related matters. The temp account can ONLY be used to post in the mod board and ONLY on topic of their ban.
Rick’s announcement of WSS’ ban:
In the response to the PM you sent me and the other mods, I said that any temp account created for appeal during your month long time out would result in your permanent ban. That response was forwarded to the other mods as well for the record. The ban is now permanent.
WSS says she was unaware that Rick had made that rule until he banned her for violating it. Today she appealed the permaban but her appeal thread was deleted. Bayoubill saw the deleted thread and asked about the departure from standard procedures.

i.e., WhereSheStops was asking for a hearing in TTTM…
the thread now appears to have been removed without Mod response…
This removal without comment seems to be at odds with the standard procedure for appeal and response from a Mod…
i.e., the Mods, for whatever reason, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to not give WSS the time of day…
Please explain why WhereSheStops’ appeal was removed and not given a proper hearing…

I have much larger issues with the likes of USAPerfection (who REEKS of US Army Retired and a few other retreads, but they have found no evidence) who post the same fucking thread over and over again, both at Hannity and everywhere else (US Message Board, Stormfront, etc).
As for bayoubil…he’d been warned, a lot. I liked the guy (I mean…how do you not like someone who has “Sheik Yerbouti” as an avie?), but he enjoyed pushing the Mods for as long as he could get away with it.
Did he DESERVE to get banned? I’d say no. But he had to know he was teetering on that line between “Telling the Mod staff what he things” and “telling the Mod staff they’re terrible to their faces”. One gets you a response, the other gets you tossed.

I have been on a T.O., and I can tell ya, you can’t send PM’s when yer on a TO.
When you get a TO, you don’t have time to PM anyone before the ban takes effect.
All communication, immediately, comes to a complete stop when a mod gives you a TO.
It would have been impossible for Rick or WSS to communicate anything via PM.
As for BayouBill, he was a good member, a very likable person, who had the ability to make friends with libs and cons alike. He will be greatly missed by many folks.
The reason he was banned is because Rick has a very fragile ego. Bill failed to prop up Rick’s ego, forgot to walk on egg shells, forgot to grovel after his TO, and somehow didn’t realize he had a big target on his forehead.
As I said before…Bayoubil and I were cool. I liked the guy.
But he’d been warned, often, about pushing the mod staff. It’s Hannity’s house, and they’re his reps in that house…therefore, they get the final say…not us.
Kvetching over people who ignore what they’ve been told is a useless exercise in futility. If they tell me I can’t post a picture because it’s too big, am I going to say “fuck you” and do it anyway? No. Because I’d rather be able to continue to contribute to the discussion.
Are there mods who rule inconsistently? Sure. Are there some who ban out of a personal vendetta? Absolutely.
But let’s face facts…MOST of the people who’ve been banned permanently had been warned, by one mod or another, about something they’d been doing prior to getting the gate.

Except Bill did nothing wrong. He asked the mods a question, and got banned for asking a question. His real “crime” was he forgot to grovel. Agreed. Gene was a great mod, wrote most of the rules, and knew how to be fair and professional in his mod duties. Which is all we ask of any of the mods. Be professional, be respectful, be fair, and don’t show favoratism.

C’est vrai. There is nothing wrong with a tight ship but when the leaders are the offenders, the prisoners in the gulags are too often the ones who spoke out about it.
